Monthly Round Ups

Monthly Round Up | July 2019

BUSINESS

This month has been hugely office based, as I’ve been finalising my schedule, seating plans and logistics for my next wedding in early September, as well as next months prop hire bookings. I’ve also had a number of Discovery Calls with some lovely couples who have enquired with me for their wedding in 2020 and put together contracts for a couple of beautiful new weddings for next Summer.

I caught up with the lovely Julie Michaelsen at White City House yesterday for lunch, which was fabulous, and long overdue! I love to get out of the office and see the suppliers I enjoy working with, but it’s often difficult to find a free date when we’re in the throws of wedding season, and our time is limited. I’ve got a few more coming up in August with some other brilliant suppliers, and I will aim to keep them in my diary for the next few months as it’s so refreshing to get out and about chatting with lovely people about what we all love doing!

I have a brand shoot coming up next week too, and have been preparing for that – so excited to share that with you in next months round up, but fingers crossed for the weather in the meantime!

FAMILY & HOME

July is always a busy month in our household as it’s the start of the school holidays, my birthday and also our wedding anniversary. Luckily the weather has finally picked up, so we’ve spent most of our time outdoors making the most of it, as you never know when it might end! Bella finished school at the beginning of July, and there is always a flurry of school-based activities and events in that final week of term to attend, so we had the Summer Fete, Sports Day and a Picnic in the Park which kept us busy!

I spent a day out with my mum at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, which was just lovely! The last time we went was 5 years ago, with Bella as a four week old baby! So it was nice to return and spend a leisurely (child-free!) day in the sunshine. SO much inspiration for our new garden design, and I could have spent another day there wandering through the main grounds of the Palace, which is just beautiful. Definitely another day trip to add to the list for later in the Summer with all of us. At the beginning of the Summer I always worry about how I’m going to fill 8 weeks, but there’s always so much I want to do – we run out of time!

We spent a week in Peebles, Scotland with a group of friends from Bella’s school, which was so much fun. We hired mountain bikes and spent days exploring the hills around Glentress and Peebles. We had great weather which was super lucky, as Bella was convinced it always rains in Scotland – so she was suitably impressed when we crossed the Scottish border and there were blue skies! It definitely made the week easier with 7 children and being able to get them outdoors every day! We spent a couple of days in Edinburgh too; one with everyone, and then one on our own catching up with friends who live there. The Fringe Festival starts soon so there was so much going on in the City and the start of set up, which was exciting to see!

For my birthday / our wedding anniversary we had a family lunch out at The Ivy in Marlow, followed by a child-free night away at The Mash Inn. It was a recommendation from some friends who live nearby, and we absolutely loved it! We arrived late afternoon, and enjoyed a glass of rose in the garden whilst reading a book, surrounded by nothing but rolling hills and the vegetable garden – pure bliss! Their tasting menu was just incredible and the much of their vegetables and herbs used within their dishes are grown in their gardens. Nick Mash and his team couldn’t have been more friendly or knowledgable, which really does make or break a place for us! We stayed overnight in one of their rooms above the main restaurant, which was such a quaint wooden-beamed bolthole with a tiny but perfect rolltop bath. We’ll definitely be back, and I would highly recommend it if you’re looking for somewhere special to escape London for 24 hours!

This weekend we’re popping over to Northern Ireland for one of my best friends weddings, which I am SO excited for! Will share more in next months round up post, but will also share some sneak peeks on my Instagram stories in the meantime! 🙂

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Love,

Jeni x
